Has this community been abandoned? I notice the last post is from 2004. Oh, sadness!

The last post to this forum noted that there were four members, so I can only guess that #5 passed unnoticed. I sought the Grammar Sauri out for two reasons: because they are looking for both grammar enthusiästs and courageous explorers of language, and because they... well... we are th'only community that lists diminuitives as an interest, despite all the language, linguistics, and grammar forums out there.

I use LiveJournal exclusively to discuss language, which so far seems to be half etymology and half grammar, tho I would love to diversify my topics. The reason I sought diminuitives is because one of my earliëst and best columns is this one, and I thought maybe some of these Sauri might have some ideas to add to my ever-growing list. I also thought they might very well be interested in the continuïng entries, as I always welcome new readers and eager commenters.

Naturally, my most recent column, delving into the very reason for being of grammariäns, could be of equal or greater interest.

Some acronyms undergo assimilation into ordinary words: often they are written in lower case, and eventually it is widely forgotten that the word was derived from the initials of others: scuba and laser, for instance. The term anacronym has been coined as a combination of the words "anachronism" and "acronym" to describe acronyms whose original meaning is forgotten.

Maybe I'm easily irritated.  But whatever this poster lacked in grammar, he made up for with humor.  Here's a passage:

Okay I got some. - Today I had school, it was boring... except for Spanish class with Clark (5th hour) - We were reviewing shit when I looked out the door and saw a bird sitting on the window ledge in the hallway. A few other kids saw it too, and then we told Mr. Clark... so, being the crazy teacher that he is, Mr. Clark went out into the hall and shooed the bird directly into the classroom! So now we had a bird flying around in the room. I suggested that we make him our class pet. But before we could even name him he flew straight from the front of the room out the window. - Then Mr. Clark went on about some Spanish poem that the bird reminded him of. I don't think it was the bird that reminded him of it though, I think it was the marijuana.

Check out those hyphens.  After periods, no less!  That's ridiculously unnecessary and breaks up the flow of writing here.  Also note the bolded sentence.  Come on, 4-year-olds don't mix the present and past tenses in ONE SENTENCE!!!!!  But the last line is funny, even if I am easily amused.

Wow, making a community dedicated to grammatical purity really layers on the pressure. I hope I don't screw up.
